RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Each exhibitor must become a member of the Kenyon Agricultural Society. Adult membership is $5.00; Junior membership (18 years and under) is $1.00 and payable to the Treasurer. Admission to the grounds is not included with the membership!
2. All articles will be exhibited in the Maxville Complex Hall.
3. All articles for exhibition in the Hall must be places with entry tag attached by 12:00 noon on Thursday,
June 24, 2010 when they will be judged. All exhibits to be picked up from Complex Hall at 3:30pm Sunday June 27.
NOTE: Exhibition Hall will be open Wed. June 23 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for anyone who cannot
place exhibits on Thursday!
4. Only Directors and their assistants will be allowed in the Complex Hall during the judging.
5. Entry tags available from Secretary of K.A.S. (527-5257), President of Homecraft Division or Debbie’s Country Corner/Maxville.
Each item must have an entry tag.
6. In absence of competition in any class when the article exhibited is of inferior quality, the Judges are instructed to award such prize only as they think deserving, whether first, second, third or any.
7. No exhibitor shall be allowed to have his/her name or other distinguishing marks on any animal or articles exhibited. All such shall be set aside by the Judges and any member who interferes with the Judges in any way shall have their prizes forfeited.
8. All fruits or vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor.
9. Articles must be made by the exhibitor and may be shown for 2 consecutive years only!
10. Reliable caretakers will be placed in charge of articles exhibited in the Hall and the Directors will take every precaution possible to ensure the safety of the articles. The Directors wish it distinctly understood that the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting them and should any article be accidently damaged or lost, the Directors will give every assistance toward recovery of same but will not make any payment of the value thereof.
11. It shall be a condition of entry that the Society shall not be liable for any loss to an exhibitor occasioned by fire, accident, condition of structure or negligence of other exhibitors or officials.
Exhibit Hall will be open for public viewing: Friday, June 25 from 12noon to 7:00pm
Saturday, June 26 from 9:00am to 7:00pm
Sunday, June 27 from 10:00am to 3:30pm

NOTE: Exhibits to be picked up on Sunday June 27 at 3:30pm. Prize money will be available.

2010 Fair Photo Contest - Digital Imaging now accepted

OBJECTIVES:
1. To help publicize the activities of all AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY FAIRS in the OAAS
2. To create real pride in the creation of well-kept grounds and buildings.
3. To encourage more attractive staging of exhibitions and displays.
4. To educate and provide a source of PRIDE in a community's development.
5. To communication NEW ideas to other Fairs.
6. To establish an up to-date library of images for OAAS promotions
RULES
1. Competition is open to each and every AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY staging a FAIR in the Province of ONTARIO in 2010
2. Each SOCIETY may submit 1-CD disc with all images downloaded--identifying each image
by the CATEGORY # only.
3. All prints-- 4" x 6" or 5" x 7" are to be mounted on bristol board (any colour) with approx.1"
border with category # and Fair name on back.
4. NO Professional Photographers permitted
5. Absolutely NO DIGITAL IMAGE enhancing allowed.
6. PLEASE do not use tape or CD's or photographs
7. Judging will be done by a committee approved by the chairman.
8. Prize winning images will be shown and awards presented at the 2011 OAAS Convention
9. Prize money will be mailed to the winners following the convention
10. ALL 1st place images will become property of the OAAS---Remaining entries will be
returned upon request.

CULINARY ARTS

For Baking & Bottled Goods:
1. Please put all exhibits of baking in clean plastic bags.
2. All baking should be displayed on a base covered with tinfoil or on a paper plate placed in a plastic bag and tied with a twist tie.
3. Secure entry tag to the outside of the plastic bag.
4. All bottled goods must be vacuum sealed, no wax. All containers 1/2 pint or Mason jars. Must be homemade. Judged on texture, appearance, uniformity & flavour.
DOMESTIC SCIENCE
Class 2
All exhibits in this Class must be specified or not eligible for competition. In case of no competition, unless the exhibit is worthy, the prize will be withheld. One article cannot be shown in more than one class.
SPECIAL PRIZES:

CHAMPIONSHIP QUILT COMPETITION
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
1. Entries must be hand quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local O.A.A.S.Fair .
2. Entry quilts must be a minimum of 72" x 90" (smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition).
3. Judging will occur at local Fairs and District levels. A Provincial Grand Champion Quilt will be selected at the Annual Convention of O.A.A.S. in Toronto.
4. The exhibitor retains ownership of the quilt and agrees to display the quilt at the next Annual Convention.
5. Upon making an entry into the OAAS Quilt Competition, the exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
6. Local Homecraft Divisions will judge a Grand Champion or Best of Show of all classes as well as Reserve Grand Champion.
7. The Grand Champion & Reserve Grand Champion are judged from all 1st and 2nd prize quilts.
MACHINE CHAMPIONSHIP QUILT/WALL HANGING COMPETITION
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. The first place winning machine quilts will be sent to the District Competitions. Ribbons will be awarded at District Level for First, Second and Third prize quilts.
Local Homecraft Divisions will judge a Grand Champion or Best of Show and a Reserve Grand Champion.
2. The first place winning machine quilt from the District competitions are eligible to enter the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (O.A.A.S.). Championship Machine Quilt Competition at their Annual Convention. In the case where a winner of the District Machine Quilt decides not to enter the Final Championship Competition, the second prize winner at the District Competition will be eligible.
3. The entry judged BEST OF SHOW at the February Convention will be declared the O.A.A.S. CHAMPION MACHINE QUILT. A GRAND PRIZE will be awarded and the exhibitor will retain ownership of the quilt. A
certificate and ribbon will be also awarded to the winner.
RULES:

The object of the Fair is to supplement and encourage Junior activities as organized by the Ministry officers in the area serviced by the Fair. It is to improve the educational value of the Fair and to develop new exhibitors for the future. The Junior Fair should also stimulate the interest of young people in the Fair and through their interest, a greater number of adults. The list of Classes is arranged with the view to encourage advanced agricultural work among young people who expect to make agriculture their vocation and training in handicrafts.
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All general rules of the Society which are applicable will apply to this Department.
2. Membership fee is $1.00 per exhibitor.
3. Entries for Section F can be obtained from the Secretary- 527-5257. Entries in other Sections must be submitted prior to noon on Thursday June 24, 2010. Displays may be placed on Wednesday night from 6-8pm
4. Articles exhibited in Section B,C,D,and E must be worked on or constructed in the 2009-2010 school year.
5. 3 4-H Clubs required to complete a Class.

JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN: Egg carton creatures
SENIOR KINDERGARTEN: Create a butterfly using paint and other media (mounted). No larger than 30cm x 45cm GRADE ONE: Create a paper bag puppet.
GRADE TWO: Create a torn paper “owl” and decorate
GRADE THREE: Make a windsock using a 30cm x 45cm construction paper cylinder. Decorate, attach streamers and add 4 strings to hang.
GRADE FOUR: Create a creature using an accordian body.
GRADE FIVE: Make a summer wreath using any media.
GRADE SIX: Create a picture in the style of a “Well known artist” using any medium 23 cm x 30 cm. Include
artist’s name.
GRADE SEVEN: Using plasticine, create a picture in a clear CD case. Use ribbon or string in top holes, so it can be
hung.
GRADE EIGHT: Painted seasonal picture as seen through a window ( no larger than 30cm x 45cm).
